Brooklyn duo Tanlines are purveyors of a specifically distinct kind of electronic pop—one that hits you with its sentimentality as much as its effervescent tempo and tone. Having just released their debut album Mixed Emotions, they simply aren’t joking with their release name, as the album coasts between ebullient percussive melodies and striking introspection. Tonight they play at Flamingo and serve up what they do best: getting the young crowds to dance and pluck them with wry commentary about displacement and getting older.

Koi Klub, dutifully taking place on the 11th of every month, brings its May programme to Moritzplatz, featuring a mini-festival of contemporary Japanese culture. From music to video, DJ performances and photography exhibitions, the works of the artists from Inao, Fujimoto and Ishimoto will be on display for your eyes and ears. Especially appealing will be the showcase from the Fukuoka-based label Oilworks and their oblique, experimentally non-linear funk.
